Borough featured in one of the final ever editions of the renowned trade publication, Plastics & Rubber Weekly (PRW) before the title merged with Plastic News Europe (PNE) in the new year.
The front-page article detailed a visit from Local MP, Sir David Amess, during Borough’s 50-year anniversary of chrome plating the first plastic component for the original Mini.
The article touched on Sir David’s views of our contribution to manufacturing and the local area, which he shared during his meeting with our managing director David Coombes, sales director David Brereton and finance director Martin Smith.

Southend-based injection moulding business Borough hosted its local MP as part of its celebrations of its 50th anniversary chrome plating its first plastic component for the original Mini.
Borough welcomed Sir David Amess, the Conservative MP for Southend West, to its Progress Road, Leigh-on-Sea facility. On hand to meet Sir David were Borough managing director David Coombes, sales director David Brereton and finance director Martin Smith.
Sir David said he was proud that a high-quality, technologically-advanced manufacturing facility producing components for some of the world’s leading car marques is based in Southend. He added: “In parliament, I’m always keen to champion my constituency and the ongoing growth potential of Southend.
The government’s substantial investment to date in Southend includes over £40m through the South East local enterprise partnership growth deal and the 2014 city deal. Borough is a great local business and the family-feeling is obvious and runs throughout. This makes me immensely proud. The tea’s not bad either.”
